Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Tik Tok as a learning media in improving vocabulary mastery among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 41 OKU. The vocabulary materials covered three topics telling the time, daily routine, and transportation delivered through four meetings combining TikTok videos with classroom practice activities. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 20 fourth-grade students as the sample. Data were collected through vocabulary tests administered before and after treatment, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, a normality test, a paired-samples t-test, and an effect size calculation. The results showed that students' mean vocabulary score increased from 55.40 ("Poor") in the pre-test to 71.00 ("Good") in the post-test. The paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between the two scores (t = -6.418, df = 19, p < 0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis, while Cohen's d yielded 1.435, indicating a large effect. These findings suggest that TikTok effectively enhances elementary students' English vocabulary mastery.
