Peer Review Policy

INTECH (Informatika dan Teknologi) applies a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, validity, and relevance of all manuscripts submitted to the journal. Every manuscript submitted to INTECH is evaluated through editorial screening and peer review before a final publication decision is made.

Peer Review Model

INTECH uses a double-blind peer review system. In this process, the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors. This review model is intended to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity throughout the evaluation process.

Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who have expertise relevant to the manuscript’s topic, methodology, and field of study.

Initial Editorial Screening

After submission, each manuscript is first examined by the Editorial Team to assess its suitability for the journal. The initial screening includes checking the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, structure and formatting, similarity level, ethical compliance, and overall academic quality.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements, are outside the journal’s scope, contain serious ethical problems, or show excessive similarity may be rejected at this stage without being sent for external review.

Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to reviewers by the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor. Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, research experience, publication record, and relevance to the manuscript topic.

Reviewers must not have any conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, research topic, or funding sources related to the manuscript. If a potential conflict of interest exists, the reviewer is expected to decline the review invitation or inform the editor immediately.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  1. Originality and contribution to the field of informatics and technology.
  2. Relevance to the focus and scope of INTECH.
  3. Clarity of research objectives and problem formulation.
  4. Appropriateness of the research method, design, and analysis.
  5. Validity and reliability of results.
  6. Adequacy and relevance of references.
  7. Clarity, coherence, and quality of academic writing.
  8. Ethical compliance, including research integrity and plagiarism issues.
  9. Practical, theoretical, or scientific contribution of the manuscript.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted: the manuscript is accepted for publication without further major changes.
  • Minor Revision: the manuscript requires minor improvements before acceptance.
  • Major Revision: the manuscript requires substantial revision and may be sent back to reviewers for further evaluation.
  • Rejected: the manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

The final decision on whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ comments, editorial assessment, and the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s standards.

Revision Process

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the comments and suggestions provided by reviewers and editors. Revised manuscripts must be submitted together with a response to reviewers explaining how each comment has been addressed.

If the revision is incomplete or does not adequately address the reviewers’ concerns, the editor may request further revision or reject the manuscript.

Review Timeline

The peer review process normally takes approximately 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers, the complexity of the manuscript, and the number of revision rounds required. Authors will be informed if the review process requires additional time.

Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers are not allowed to disclose, discuss, or use any part of the submitted manuscript for personal or professional advantage before publication.

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the review process and must not share the manuscript or its content with others without permission from the editor.

Plagiarism and Ethical Screening

All manuscripts submitted to INTECH are checked for similarity and potential plagiarism using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity levels, plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other ethical violations will be rejected or handled according to the journal’s publication ethics policy.

Special Issues and Invited Articles

Manuscripts submitted to special issues, invited sections, or thematic editions must follow the same peer review process as regular submissions. Guest editors, if involved, must follow the journal’s editorial and peer review standards. The final decision remains under the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief.

Independence of Editorial Decisions

Editorial decisions are made based on academic merit, relevance, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field. Decisions are not influenced by the authors’ nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, ethnicity, religion, political views, or financial considerations.
